Queen of the Beach

When President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited the Outer Banks in 1937 to see the Lost Colony, it was the Buchanan Cottage where he dined. This authentic Old Nags Head home is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Built on 3 oceanfront lots, the Buchanan Cottage was constructed of cypress, juniper and heart pine. This classic L-shaped beach house is complemented with large traditional wrap-around porches, complete with porch swings, benches and a hammock for enjoying the ocean breezes.
